About Young Tassie Scientists

The Young Tassie Scientists program aims to broaden the profile of science throughout Tasmania and to provide insights into working as a scientist.

The Scientists

The Young Tassie Scientists are researchers who volunteer their time to share their passion for science.

Teacher’s Resources

The Young Tassie Scientist program brings scientists into classrooms around Tasmania during National Science Week.

The Young Tassie Scientist program supports the three strands of the Australian Science Curriculum, as follows:

1

Science as a Human Endeavour

Showing how scientists think and work in different contexts, and implications of their research for society and the environment

2

Scientific Inquiry Skills

Illustrating ways in which scientists investigate and explain the world

3

Science Understanding

Providing opportunities for students to engage with established scientific knowledge and cutting-edge research

20 years of YTS

2022 marks 20 years of the Young Tassie Scientists program

For the past two decades this majority volunteer-delivered program has run alongside National Science Week to assist in raising science aspirations for school aged children across Tasmania.
