About Kritika Sharma

Hey, I’m Kritika, a plant lover!

My passion for plants started when I was just 5 years old. I used to drive everyone crazy with my endless questions, especially my grandfather, who shared his love of gardening with me. One day in 10th grade, I asked him a question that seemed random at the time: “We can speak up when we need water or food, but what about plants?” Today, I’m thrilled to say that my question wasn’t silly at all!

While everyone talks about human stress, I wanted to understand how plants feel and respond to stress. Now, I’m diving into the fascinating world of water stress in pine trees, famously known as Christmas trees. Imagine being able to ‘listen’ to when plants need water! I get to use amazing cameras developed by scientists at the University of Tasmania that can tell when plants need water, protecting them before they even get into the stress zone.

From a curious kid with endless questions to a scientist working on exciting research, my journey has been rooted in a love for plants. Join me as I continue to explore and reveal the hidden stories of the plant world! Exciting, right?
