About Lucinda Verne
While they seem different, art and science have a lot in common and are connected in many ways. Science has always had a big impact on art; this has included chemistry in paint making and other interesting areas. Art has been used in the discover of new things in science, including in the fields of medicine and the human body.
Growing up in a homeschool family, I learnt to be curious about the world around me. Be it cool bugs in the garden, pond water in jars or interesting rocks, I always found something to study as a kid. Even though I did not go into a science field and instead became an artist, I have never lost my interest in making new discoveries. There are so many amazing things to look at! I have used the interesting information that I have learned to fuel my art making.
As an artist, part of my day work is getting to explore stories, play with light, and getting to experiment with colour. I love exploring science, using art as a visual representation of what I have learned. In the last few years, I have come to love learning about the brain, and the interacting parts of it. There are many secrets hidden inside the brain, and we are still finding new things about it. My current study has been into how art can share what happens inside the brain and the many things that can affect it.
